This comprehensive virtual, self-guided course provides valuable training and certification for anyone who works or volunteers in child care facilities, schools, before- and after-school care, camps, and other settings where children are present. Although this course is designed to meet the criteria for Child Care Facilities Licensing in the province of British Columbia, anyone working with school-aged children will benefit from this course. This course can be taken by an individual of any age. It is great training for anyone who would like to work with children. This Module explains the impacts you make to others as a child and youth leader. We will examine various aspects of childhood development and explore several theories that support working with children.
This module focuses on understanding behaviour and developmental changes in children, working with specific youths of different ages and the importance of planning age-appropriate activities.
This module focuses on the importance of active play, followed by guiding children through relationships and setting boundaries, which is tied together with the concept of 'group management.'
In this module we will explore self-regulation and its contribution to social emotional development and learning. We will also examine types of childhood disorders as well as strategies to support different behaviours.
This final module defines different types of child care facilities. We explore healthy communication in child care settings, review health and safety best practices and explain what healthy eating at childcare facilities looks like.
